What Does Non-traditional Mean?

At Alternative HealthCare Solutions, our treatment philosophy differs from traditional physical therapy departments in several important ways:

The true cause of your problem will be located instead of just treating the symptoms.

Correcting your problem will involve using highly specialized manual therapy techniques which never require manipulations.

You won't find a room full of strange exercise equipment inside. With over 25 years of uninterrupted clinical experience, our hands and our minds are our main tools. Besides, most of the exercises we teach are designed to be performed with simple items found around the house.

You won't find hot packs here either. They have no long-term benefit.

We won't keep you coming back time after time. We try to get the job done in three or four visits.

Our Philosophy of Care

When I first opened Alternative HealthCare Solutions, one of the things I heard over and over again was "How you gonna make any money scheduling everyone for one hour of one on one treatment time!" Actually, I wondered that myself. I remembered how those practioners I had been treated by rushed me in and out. I also remembered how I had to rush patients when I worked for Hospitals and other private clinics.

I didn't like it then, I thought, so why would I do it in my own practice?

I pretty much started with a new sheet of paper when I was planning this practice and its policies. Many corporate and hospital based departments have to support a lot of overhead expenses and other personnel so their billings have to be much higher just to survive. To do this they have to spread multiple patients over one therapist at the same time. This results in several undesirable things. For one, each patient gets much less of the hands on treatment they are paying for and instead gets modalities and other cover up treatments. These cover up treatments like hot pacs, ultrasound, electric stimulation allow the therapist to supervise or "treat" multiple patients at the same time and therefore bill out a lot of money to the insurance company. The really bad thing is that these treatments, (in my opinion which is based on over 25 years of uninterrupted clinical experience) have little or no long-term benefit to the patient. So the patient feels a little better but it doesn't last. This philosophy of treatment is perfectly legal but in my opinion very shady.

Another way they cut back on service is to use non-licensed helpers to work with the patients but still bill as though you were treated by a therapist. These reduce the quality of care significantly and usually the outcome suffers as well.

This care will be provided by licensed therapists at all times. NO NON-LICENSED HELPERS EVER!

Audits of our charts indicate that we achieve patient goals in significantly less visits than traditional practices.

And here is an unexpected twist….our average visit charge is $25-$35 dollars less than corporate P.T. practices.

We work hard and honestly to get you better and, we don't soak you for it.
